Left out familicide, and others (I imagine) as well.
ReplyDeleteMany, many, MANY others: infanticide, insecticide, avicide, ovicide, etc. The wonderful thing about morphemes is that, by learning only a handful of prefixes, suffixes, and roots, we learn hundreds of words as well.
ReplyDeleteHow many -icide words can you think of?
Here are some more of mine:
avicide: the killing of birds.
ovicide: the killing of egg cells.
insecticide: the killing of insects.
biocide: the killing of life.
deicide: the killing of one's god.
ceticide: the killing of whales.
cytocide: the killing of cells.
fungicide: the killing of fungus.
pesticide: the killing of pests.
herbicide: the killing of herbs.
